Class of 1997

After studying for a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies in University College Dublin, Nessa completed her FE1 exams and entered Blackhall Place to gain her practice qualification as a Solicitor. She commenced her apprenticeship in Frank Ward & Co. Solicitors before joining Lennon Heather solicitors where she led a team in one of the longest ever running commercial court cases in Ireland.  She then joined A&L Goodbody specializing in commercial litigation before making the transition to in-house counsel.

In her current role in Irish Life, she is responsible for the management of all litigation and dispute resolution relating to the Irish Life Group and providing legal support to the company’s business. This encompasses the group wide umbrella of companies (including cross jurisdictional litigation) and includes a variety of exposure to varying elements of the business such as life and serious illness claims, pensions, corporate business, property, health insurance and investment funds. Nessa also acts as legal editor for the business magazine, Connected Life, and sits on a number of internal committees which feed into the ongoing management of the business.

In addition, Nessa holds a number of post graduate diploma courses in Commercial Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Finance Law, Insurance Law and is currently studying the Law Society course in Pensions and Applied Trusteeship.
