Susan Whelan

Treasury Specialist - Ulster Bank Ireland

Class of 1987

She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland and has over 25 years’ experience working in the Financial Services Industry.

After training in Tax in KPMG, she moved to Citigroup Dublin - Agency Services. From there she joined Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation (CAT) as Financial Controller in their newly setup Corporate Bank (one of the first Multinationals to receive a Corporate Banking License in Ireland). With CAT she also worked as European Treasury Manager and was Executive Director of their Irish IFSC companies for 13 years.

Susan has extensive experience in all areas of Treasury – Management of Corporate Banking Relationships, Term Funding, Money Markets, Cash Management, Liquidity Management, Foreign Exchange Risk Management, Interest Rate Risk Management and various system implementations.

She also has had vast experience in the area of Finance and Project Management
In 2016, following a 5 year family break, she returned to work for Ulster Bank Treasury Department. She is currently working as a Treasury Specialist on various Bank projects.

Susan is currently President of the Alexandra College Alumnae, past Chairperson of Alexandra Alumnae Bursaries Charity and a Trustee of Old Alexandra Hockey Club.
