Fiona Marshall

Financial Advisor, New Ireland Assurance

Class of 1980

Fiona’s working background has been in the financial services, initially in the
insurance industry and 27 years in banking. Her current position is financial
advisor. Her roles included Life and Pensions subsidiary start up, Credit Control,
Compliance and Operations. During the first 15 years she was very fortunate to
have a successful hockey career representing Ireland on 94 occasions, and has been
a member of a very successful hockey club, Old Alexandra.

For the last 7 years she has worked as a self-employed financial advisor, tied to
New Ireland Assurance. This role has been hugely rewarding from a personal and
business perspective. Within the business she prepares a financial plan for
individuals taking their specific needs into consideration whether it is savings and
investments, family protection and retirement planning.

Primarily the flexibility of her role is the key to my success: she can manage work,
family, sporting activity and friends within her working diary. She would like to
encourage more women into this area of the financial services: there are huge
rewards working for yourself, and in her case, with the support and commitment of
the only Irish-owned life assurance company.
